NEW YORK CENTER FOR REHABILITATION & NURSING’S CURRENT VISITATION POLICY

On 3/10/22, CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service), in conjunction with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), updated its visitation guidance for nursing homes but still emphasized the importance of maintaining infection prevention practices. NYCRN then revised its visitation policy based on the new guidance that visitation is allowed for all residents, though still maintaining proper infection control to help ensure the health and safety of our residents and everyone in the facility.

Visitors will be screened for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 at the front desk. Visitation will be refused if the individual(s) exhibit any symptoms and if one is tested positive for COVID-19. The facility recommends that you provide a NEGATIVE test result (RAPID ANTIGEN must be taken one day before visitation or two days prior for RT-PCR). NYCRN can offer a rapid testing kit and assist you if you cannot present a NEGATIVE test result.

All visitors must present identification and, depending on the unit you are visiting, will be asked to wear proper applicable PPE (surgical or KN95 or KN94 mask – at all times, ensuring that both nose and mouth are covered; gown; face shield,). Hand washing upon arrival and departure with soap and water is encouraged.  You may also use alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which can be found in hallways and elevators.

The visitors must practice safe social distancing from the staff and residents and only stay in the designated areas. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.
